Jameson Dublin International Film Festival (February)

This event celebrates the best of Irish and world cinema in viewings across the city. There are also events that let fans meet Irish screenwriters, directors and actors.

St Patrick's Day Parade & Festival (March)

This is the best excuse to go for a drink or eight. There is a five day festival with concerts, exhibitions, street theatre, deafening fireworks and general organized chaos. Pubs and bars are filled to the brim from morning to night.

Dublin Fringe Festival (September)

This festival is dedicated to providing a focus for trying out something new. There is an emphasis on the weird and unusual. There is a huge demand for venues and sometimes compromises are made, once a performance was held in the city's public toilets.

Dublin Theatre Festival (September-October)

This festival has been a showcase for the top Irish and world theater since its founding in 1957. It mostly provides a stage for emerging local talent, but international productions also dip their toes in this small theatrical pond.
