Festival of Sant’Ambrogio (June)

Sweden's National Day celebrates Gustav Vasa's election as King of Sweden on the 6th of June 1523. This day is also a bank holiday so be aware that some stores are closed then.

Midsummer Eve (Late June)

The longest day of the year is revered in Scandanavian culture. Modern Swedes flock to summer cottages and Stockholmers sail to quiet coves. This is a day to celebrate fertility, with lots of food and drink.

Stockholm Pride Week (July-August)

Since 1998, the Stockholm Pride Week has grown into one of the largest festivals in the city. There are 5 days of partying, debates and entertainment.

Lucia Day (December)

Celebrated on the 13th of December, Lucia Day is in the heart of the winter's darkness. It is one of Sweden's better known festivals.
