Events in Taichung
The Lantern Festival kicks off in the first two weeks of the Chinese New Year and always proves to be a dazzling affair, with a multitude of multi-shaped lanterns floating in the air alongside firework displays and glittering light shows.
Blue Ocean Festival (July)
Every summer, crowds flock to the Da'an coast and dance from morning 'til dusk at the Blue Ocean Festival - a celebration of sunshine, music, food and games on the beaches of Taiwan.
The City Mazu International Festival (April)
An important event in the lives of many of those in Taiwan, the City Mazu International Festival offers citizens the opportunity to celebrate and pray for Mazu - the Goddess of the Sea. An enormous event, this festival attracts as many as one million visitors every single year.
International Flower Carpet Festival (October)
This gorgeous flower festival is considered by many to be one of the best events in the city during the Autumn season, and acts as a wonderful showcase for horticultural talent, with beautiful flower displays covering 46 hectares. Local delicacies are also served up at the International Flower Carpet Festival, allowing you to nibble away on food whilst marvelling at some magical floral exhibits.
Jazz Festival (October)
Another big event that draws the art crowd each year is the Jazz Festival, which takes place every October and features brilliant brass players from all over the world.
